Terms & rental policies · India

Terms of the house.

The short, honest version — each rule here is how the product actually behaves. Effective 15 August 2026, across India.

  1. What TheOutfitRental is

A marketplace that connects renters with independent boutiques. We list the wardrobes, carry the requests, and keep the shared record of every booking. Every rental is a direct agreement between you and the boutique.

  2. We never hold the money

Advances go straight to the boutique’s UPI. Balances, deposits and refunds move at the counter, between you. TheOutfitRental never collects, holds, or arbitrates payments — the record is our only role.

  3. Requests and acceptance

Requests are free and unlimited. A boutique has 24 hours to reply or the request expires at no cost to anyone. When two requests hold the same dates, the first one accepted wins; the other is declined automatically with three similar outfits suggested.

  4. Paying the advance

On acceptance, 25% of the rent is due by UPI within 24 hours, directly to the boutique. Paying it confirms the booking; not paying lets the acceptance lapse and frees the dates.

  5. Cancellations

Before acceptance, cancelling is always free. After the advance is paid, the boutique’s own stated cancellation policy applies — it is printed on their shop page and on every listing before you request.

  6. Deposits and what can be kept

Deposits are set per outfit and refunded at the counter within 24 hours of return. Anything kept must carry an amount and a reason, visible on the shared record — the condition is agreed together at the counter. Disputes are sorted out directly between renter and boutique; both sides of the exchange stay on the record.

  7. Late returns

Each listing states its late fee per day. Days are counted on the shared record from the agreed return time — no surprises, no platform penalty on top.

  8. Reviews

Only completed rentals can review, and how the deposit came back is part of the story — how fairly a deposit was handled is exactly what the next renter wants to know. Reviews stay open for 30 days after a rental closes.

  9. For boutiques

The pilot is free for every boutique — every shop rides it on the Growth plan (120 listings) — with 30 days’ written notice before any subscription model begins. Planned pricing after that: Starter ₹349/month for 25 listings, Growth ₹799 for 120, Premium ₹1,499 for 300 — 1–3 images per listing on all three, no commission on any rental. We email 14 days before the first charge, and price changes are announced 14 days ahead. Listings go live immediately and are reviewed after publishing.

  10. Your details

What you share goes only to the party you book with — a boutique sees your name, size and contact for its own bookings; renters see what a boutique states publicly. No marketing unless you switch it on.
