Privacy policy
What we keep, how we use it, and the choices you have. Updated 1 October 2026.
What we collect and why
We store the account details you provide, such as your name, email, phone number, sign-in credentials and notification preferences, to manage your account and contact you about the service. Saved outfits help you return to items you like.
Requests and rentals include the outfits, dates, sizes, contact details and messages you submit. A boutique may record an address, measurements, fit notes and rental notes to serve its own customers. Payment amounts, payment claims, receipts and deposit decisions form part of the rental record. Money moves directly between you and the boutique; we do not process rental payments.
Reviews and boutique replies are public. Boutique profiles publish the details the boutique supplies for customers. Security records include sign-in activity, browser/device information and a protected network identifier to prevent abuse and investigate failures.
Who can access information
A boutique can access customer and rental information for its own requests and bookings, including its private fit notes. It cannot browse another boutique’s customers. You can see your own shared rental record; boutique-only notes are not part of that shared record.
Platform administration covers boutique approvals, listing moderation and boutique subscription billing. The admin console does not expose private booking contents, rental money events or boutique customer notes. Support receives what you send by email; authorised technical staff may need access to operate, secure or repair the service.
Hosting, database, media and email providers process the information needed to run these services. The documented setup uses AWS, MongoDB Atlas and SendGrid. Following a boutique’s WhatsApp, phone or map link takes you to a separate service with its own privacy practices.
How long information stays
Account information remains while your account is in use. You can delete your customer account once every booking is completed or cancelled. Deletion removes your account, sessions, saved outfits and preferences, cancels open requests and signs you out everywhere. Platform cleanup completes within seven days.
A boutique’s customer details are kept for 20 days after account deletion so it can close out the rental history. After that, the name, contact details, address, measurements, fit notes and private customer notes are removed. An anonymous customer reference remains so booking and financial records stay intact.
Account deletion does not erase booking, payment or audit history. Reviews are retained with the author shown as “Deleted customer”; statements already entered on the shared rental record also remain. Deletion does not automatically remove personal details someone wrote into historical text. Contact support about personal information in those records. If ID is recorded at pickup, the app stores only its type and last four digits for the life of the booking record, never an ID image.
Access, correction and deletion
Use Account settings to review and update your profile, change notification preferences or delete your customer account. Your rentals contain the shared record of each booking. Ask the boutique to correct the fit and contact information it keeps for your rentals.
For account access, correction or deletion requests, or questions about information that remains, email support@theoutfitrental.com. Describe the account or record involved, without sending your password or a full identity document.
Cookies and browser storage
We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in and protect account actions against forged requests. Blocking these cookies can prevent sign-in and account features from working.
Some forms keep a temporary draft in your browser tab so an interruption does not lose your progress. The app uses session storage for this recovery; it does not store sign-in tokens there. The current app does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Operational and security records are used to keep the service working.
Email choices and updates
Account security and rental updates are part of the service. Optional marketing and saved-outfit emails follow the preferences in your account. Turning off marketing does not stop essential rental or account emails.
This page describes the current app practices. We update it when those practices change. For cancellation, payment and deposit arrangements, see the Terms & rental policies.
